Welcome to my party. I'm so excited to have a tea party. I've always wanted to have one, but never got around to doing it. So I decided to have a virtual one, that way I could do it the way I dreamed and all my friends could attend.

Enjoy yourself!

History on high teas:

The "high" in high tea does not imply that fancy, upper class, or expensive foods are served (or that high tea is enjoyed only by well-to-do Britons). It actually refers to afternoon tea served on a dining room table (a high table) as opposed to afternoon tea served on a "tea table" (a low table). High tea is a fairly substantial meal — equivalent to supper — served in working class homes. It is generally served at 5:00 or 6:00 p.m., and features a hot dish, hefty sandwiches, scones, heavy cakes, biscuits — and, of course, plenty of tea.

That all looks so yummy!!

Thanks so much for having us and also, a big MWAH to you on your birthday. I hope you have a blast.

Welcome Caridad, you early bird.

So nice of you to stop by. I hope all is well with you.

Turning 40 has been great. My sisters and mother threw me a dinner party. It was really nice. My kids got me an MP3, I'm loading it with my favorite songs. Its amazing how much those little things hold. I love it because I don't have to lug around my CDs.

I'll be back. I have to get ready for the party. :)

Happy Birthday, LaShaunda!

Great info. Lately I swear I've been learning something new every day.

This menu is going to wreak havoc on my already wide hips! Guess I'll need to go out for a brisk walk this evening.

Enjoy your day, girl.

LaShaunda,
Happy, happy, birthday. You are having quite a year, having a beautiful baby boy and turning fabulous forty.
Your tables are lovely and your menu is simply scrumptious. I brought along Almond thins and Lemon Ginger tea to add to the festivities. Thanks for info on High Tea. I have dozens of books about tea, kinds of tea, how to give tea parties, favorite tea spots, the medicinal purposes of tea. I try to go to one or two High Teas a year and of course have tea with friends at our homes or informal tea places. The Bay Area has really embraced the tea phenemenon and we have several venues in which to indulge ourselves.

Welcome, Gwen, Delores, Chiki, 1blkquill and Dwan. Please help yourself to the buffet and find a seat.

I hope you're ready for a good time.

Since I love giving gifts, my first goody bag goes to my first guest Caridad. Caridad send me your mailing address and I'll pop it in the mail for you. sormag@yahoo.com

My theme for 40 is I'm Bringing Sexy Back. So I invite you to do a little dancing as Justin Timberlake entertains us.

OK I'm dreaming, so why not dream big.

LaShaunda said...

Welcome Dera,

I think I need to visit you. Nobody here wanted to go to tea with me. They weren't impressed. However I think I'm going to take my kids. Atleast we can say we tried it.

Thanks so much for the cookies and well wishes.

Happy Birthday LaShaunda, I am trapped here at work, but I wanted to pop in, sip a spot of tea and tell you what a fabulous spread you have! I have already started checking out the blog! Rhonda's advice was great! At some point I plan on taking the time to write my book. Got ideas, but no time yet.

Hi LaShaunda! Happy 40th Birthday! Thanks for hosting this tea, and giving us a little history lesson too. I ducked out of work for a few minutes to be with you.

I'm sticking next to the chocolate trifle so if the rest of you folks want some, you'd better get yours soon!

Wishing you the very best of all that God has to offer, LaShaunda. Enjoy your day!

Welcome Patricia,

Thanks for the birthday wishes. After this party I'm going to feel like a fat cake. LOL

Man, I'm growing fat just reading about all this yummy food... :)

Happy, happy birthday to LaShaunda!! A young'un with a newborn at her side, she's a phenomenal writer, publisher/editor. Keep up the good work and enjoy your special day.

Your friend,
Cindy :)

LaShaunda said...

Welcome Cindy!

I hear you're off to England. Can I get in the suitcase. I want to go.

Have real tea over there for me.

Anonymous said...

Ha, ha!! Yeah, I'll try to have a "Real Tea" when we get there, but I'm hanging out with my college-aged daughter and her pals for the most part, so I'm not too sure if they're into the formal tea or not!

I do expect, however, to check out a real, honest-to-goodness, small town English Pub! :)

Once we get to London, I'm sure they'll all want to eat at McDonald's and the like... Sigh!

I'll try to take some photos and post them to my blog when I return. :)

Hi LaShaunda,

Happy Birthday, it's Mommy, this is a wonderful tea party. Boy I can't make up my mind what I want, but I known that cake is my first choice. By the way I brought you a tea and coffee service for seven which is white lined with gold trimming for your birthday gift, know you can have a real high tea at home with friends. Enjoy this tea and have many more at home. I love You. Itty bt.

LaShaunda said...

Thanks Mama for stopping by at the tea party.

Can't wait to have my first real party.

I'm going to make sure to have some of that Chocolate Brownie Trifle.

Good morning and happy birthday to you Ms. LaShaunda.

I have been taught to never arrive without a gift for my hostess. Therefore I offer to you the prayer of continued favor and blessings from our Father. In my hand are a dozen Tea Cakes made especially for you from a secret recipe. And for your reading enjoyment, a copy of Business Unusual.

Before taking taking my seat at one of the beautifully decorated tables, I will help myself to a chicken salad sandwich and tea.

I applaud you for caring so much for others. I'll be back later for seconds.

Linda!

What a wonderful gift from your Mom. I think it is so cool she dropped by. Be sure and send a picture of the tea service.

Welcome Linda,

Thank you so much for your gifts.

I'm so looking forward to reading your book.

Now that the baby is here, I hope I have enough energy to do some writing and reading.

Hi, Birthday Lady!

I'm sorry I'm running late, but you know I would at least stop by to wish you the happiest birthday you have ever had.

Thanks for the invite. All the food is wonderful, and I already feel the virtual ten pounds I've gained from just looking at it.

You go on, girl, with your "bringing sexy back". As I can attest to, being a new mother is very sexy--so you're already there! And I notice that as I get older, I find that what I used to think was sexy really wasn't sexy in a lasting way. Confidence is the real key to sexy.

It's your birthday, shake your thing!

I want to thank everyone who stopped by and helped me celebrate turning 40.

I know this year is the begining of wonderful decade. I'm ready!

Our last guest was Linda. I have your address Linda, so I'll send you a goody bag.

Thanks again everyone, if there any leftovers feel free to take some home :)

Maybe in the future we'll all meet for real tea.

LaShaunda said...

Oh oh, looks like I spoke too soon.

I have your address Rhonda, so I'll throw you out a goody too.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

LaShaunda, today's my brother's birthday too so I had to run some errands to get ready for his party this evening.

I wanted to stop by and say Hi and I hope you're enjoying your birthday week!!!

Happy Birthday, LaShaunda! This is such a great way to celebrate the mark of another year in your life. I only wish that I could actually savor some of the selections from your buffet and of course, the teas! So, my imagination will have to do the trick for me. Enjoy, and I wish for you many many more happy and fun-filled birthdays.
